Bank Indonesia reported that Indonesia’s net international investment liability fell to USD 197.4 billion at the end of the second quarter of 2026 from USD 223.0 billion in the first quarter. The decline reflected both lower foreign financial liabilities and higher foreign financial assets, reducing the ratio of the net liability position to gross domestic product to 13.3% from 15.2%. Foreign financial liabilities decreased 1.9% quarter on quarter to USD 769.0 billion, as price revaluations and broad U.S. dollar appreciation lowered the value of domestic financial instruments despite continued direct and portfolio investment inflows. Foreign financial assets rose 1.9% to USD 571.5 billion, led by other investment, direct investment and portfolio investment. Liabilities remained concentrated in long-term instruments, primarily direct investment.
