The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures has published final sector guidance to help technology and communications organisations identify, assess, manage and disclose nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities. The release extends its sector-specific guidance to 18 sectors, covering about 60% of Sustainable Industry Classification System industries, and adds a practical LEAP use case focused on water risks in semiconductor manufacturing and datacentre infrastructure. The guidance covers the technology and communications value chain, including semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, hardware, datacentres, telecommunications, software and internet services. It provides sector-specific instructions for applying the Locate, Evaluate, Assess and Prepare approach and selecting disclosure metrics, addressing freshwater dependencies, land and ocean impacts from infrastructure, and pollution from manufacturing, electronic waste and battery waste. The accompanying use case examines how technology companies and financial institutions can evaluate water-related exposures in two water-intensive components of the artificial intelligence value chain, particularly in water-stressed regions and across investment and lending portfolios.
Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures issues technology and communications guidance and LEAP use case focused on water risks
The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures has issued final technology and communications guidance covering nature-related assessment, management and disclosure across the sector’s value chain. An accompanying LEAP use case shows how companies and financial institutions can evaluate water risks from semiconductor manufacturing and datacentre infrastructure, including exposures linked to artificial intelligence growth.
