Bank Indonesia inaugurated the CERDAS PeKA hub at Universitas Airlangga in Surabaya to help students recognize and manage risks when using digital financial services. Established with the university and the Association of Indonesian Private Commercial Banks, the hub provides education, discussion and consultation on financial products, digital transaction risks and complaint channels. Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta urged students to verify information through official channels, protect personal data and report problems rather than acting under pressure from suspected fraudsters. The initiative responds to a gap between access and understanding among younger consumers. The 2026 National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion recorded a financial inclusion rate of 95.69% among people aged 18 to 25, compared with a financial literacy rate of 73.32%. Digital payments are also expanding rapidly, with cumulative QRIS transactions reaching 17.45 billion through August 2026 across 69.32 million users and 47.11 million merchants. CERDAS PeKA forms part of the Joint Consumer Protection Education Movement and promotes awareness of shared responsibility, routine verification and use of appropriate complaint channels. Bank Indonesia plans to expand the education model through university and community networks, alongside broader collaboration with associations and the payment system industry.
