Egmont Group Executive Secretary Jérôme Beaumont emphasized the strategic role of financial intelligence and stronger international cooperation during panel discussions at the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. He argued that connecting intelligence, expertise and partnerships across borders and sectors can help close implementation gaps, expose criminal networks, trace illicit assets and enable earlier disruption of financial crime. Beaumont called for trusted cooperation among financial intelligence units, closer cross-sector collaboration and effective public-private partnerships. He also discussed how financial intelligence units and financial institutions can improve their joint work to identify, analyze and disrupt increasingly transnational and sophisticated criminal activity.
