Portugal's Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority has published a draft regulatory standard setting the indices for automatically updating insured property and contents values in policies starting or expiring in the first quarter of 2027. The proposal continues the quarterly indexation framework, which is intended to reduce the risk that sums insured under policies covering residential property become outdated. The proposed Building Index is 610.30, up 3.34% from the fourth quarter of 2026 and 6.46% from a year earlier. The Home Contents Index is 407.31, up 3.43% and 13.75%, respectively, while the combined Home Contents and Buildings Index is 529.10, up 3.37% and 8.60%. All three use the first quarter of 1987 as a base of 100. Policyholders remain responsible for ensuring that insured values are adequate, including accounting for regional differences from the national indices and changes to the insured assets.
