The Bermuda Ministry of Finance reported that a government delegation led by Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt held talks with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission on digital asset regulation. The discussions focused on how the U.S. agencies may treat comparable foreign frameworks as they develop rules under their existing authority, with Bermuda seeking regulatory comparability and closer cooperation. The delegation briefed SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins and CFTC Chairman Michael Selig on Bermuda’s Digital Asset Business Act and recent Bermuda Monetary Authority work, including its Embedded Supervision pilot and consultations on tokenization, stablecoins and artificial intelligence. Technical officers from the ministry and the authority will maintain dialogue with both U.S. agencies. Bermuda officials also met Coinbase, Ondo Finance, Ripple and BlackRock, encouraging them to expand operations in Bermuda or launch products under the Digital Asset Business Act. Burt separately outlined Bermuda’s plans for a fully onchain national economy and invited conference participants to the Digital Finance Forum in Bermuda in April 2027.
