The Romanian Ministry of Finance outlined Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare’s priorities for the inclusive Eurogroup and Economic and Financial Affairs Council meetings in Luxembourg. Discussions cover banking and energy competitiveness, fiscal and structural policy coordination, Europe’s economic recovery, capital markets and the economic effects of the war in Ukraine. For banking policy, Romania supports an integrated and competitive market but stresses the need to balance home and host state interests and maintain appropriate capital and liquidity requirements at legal entity level, particularly for countries outside the Banking Union. On energy, the focus is on electrification, networks and interconnections, while keeping short-term measures temporary and targeted. The agenda also includes implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility, the 2026 European Semester, economic governance, public spending efficiency and progress under the Savings and Investments Union.
